The End of the Thread (Η Άκρη της Κλωστής)

"The End of the Thread" (Η Άκρη της Κλωστής) is a music-theatre production at the Strovolos Municipal Theatre in Nicosia, Cyprus, on Friday 6 November 2026 at 20:00. This ambitious production marks the 100th anniversary of AKEL (the Progressive Party of the Working People) and the Popular Movement, celebrating a century of struggle, sacrifice and contribution to Cypriot society.

At the heart of the show is a red thread passed from hand to hand across generations — a symbol that history does not end and the struggle does not stop as long as it is handed down. The story unfolds through the eyes of a working-class Cypriot family, tracing the arc of the 20th century all the way to 2026, and highlighting the persecutions, sacrifices, and ideals of freedom, democracy and social justice that shaped Cyprus.

The performance blends theatre, music, choral singing and archival projections into a powerful evening of living memory. Direction and text are by Neoklis Neocleous, with artistic direction by Koulis Theodorou.
