Hainides (Χαΐνηδες) are a Greek rock band formed in Thessaloniki in 1982, whose politically engaged music and uncompromising spirit have given them one of the most devoted cult followings in Greek rock. Their name means outlaws or brigands — a self-conscious declaration of their outsider stance. Drawing on rock, folk, and laiko influences, their lyrics deal with social justice, resistance, and the struggles of ordinary people, earning them a reputation as one of Greece's most authentically political musical voices. Decades after their formation, their songs remain anthems for a certain strand of Greek political consciousness. Their performance at DownTown Live in Nicosia brought their message to Cyprus's music community.
