The Idiots Next Door

This satirical theatre comedy in Limassol, Cyprus takes place at Pattihio Municipal Theatre on Monday, March 23, 2026. “The Idiots Next Door” is an adaptation of Neil Simon’s “The Idiots,” bringing humour and social commentary to the stage.

Set in the Greek village of Kolopetinitsa, the story follows a community condemned to stupidity by a centuries-old curse. When a young teacher named Leon arrives and falls in love with Sophia, he discovers the truth behind the curse and has just 24 hours to educate her and break it—otherwise, he too will become an “idiot.” Beyond its comic plot, the play serves as an allegory about manipulation, power, and the fine line between ignorance and knowledge.
