The Last Session of Freud

“The Last Session of Freud” returns for its 4th run with only three performances at the Foyer of the Nicosia Municipal Theatre on March 25 and 26, 2026.

Presented within the Cultural Programme of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026, the unique foyer space is transformed into Sigmund Freud’s office. Varnavas Kyriazis and Andreas Araouzos portray two powerful 20th-century figures in an intense intellectual duel.

Written by award-winning American playwright Mark St. Germain, the play imagines a fictional meeting in 1939, two days after the outbreak of World War II, between Sigmund Freud and C.S. Lewis. In Freud’s London office, the two men debate the existence of God, faith and doubt, war trauma, family, loss and mortality. The dialogue is both courteous and provocative, highlighting the tension between reason and belief.
