The Concert Series of the Municipality of Pafos, part of its new programme of thematic cultural events, continues with a second concert dedicated to classical music.
The Municipality of Pafos presents the eighteen-year-old pianist Anna Avraamidou, one of the most promising young musicians of Cyprus. She will be joined by the distinguished flutist Savvas Christodoulou on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., at the Markideio Municipal Theatre.
Anna Avraamidou has already established an impressive presence, with international distinctions across Europe and the United States and appearances on important concert stages. Since the age of 14, she has been studying at the Purcell School for Young Musicians, and she has been awarded a full tuition scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she will begin her studies this coming September. The concert programme presents a rich and varied selection of works, highlighting both expressive depth and virtuosity. The elegance of Suite op.34 by Charles-Marie Widor and the imaginative, multi-layered character of Carnaval op.9 by Robert Schumann are complemented by the contemporary work Hypnosis by Ian Clarke, which explores the expressive possibilities of the flute through modern techniques. The programme concludes with the virtuosic Fantaisie Brillante sur Carmen by François Borne, based on themes from the opera Carmen, offering a brilliant and compelling finale.
