This sold-out musical theatre production from Athens makes its Cyprus premiere in May 2026, with seven performances across three cities. Written and conceived by Petros Zoulias, «Malista Kyrie Zambeta» («Yes, Mr. Zambetas») is a celebration of the life and music of legendary Greek laiko composer Giorgos Zambetas — performed in Greek with a distinguished cast and running for 150 minutes.
Tickets start from €20.
The show traces the personal story of Zambetas through his music, drawing from Katerina Zambeta's biographical book «Giorgos Zambetas, Vathia sti thalassa tha peso». In a bold creative choice, Zambetas himself never appears as a character played by an actor — instead, he is present throughout via rare archival audio recordings in his own voice, clips from Greek films he scored, and television interviews. The effect is surprising and captivating: the composer comments, intervenes, and reveals his truths in real time, making the production feel less like a tribute and more like a genuine encounter with the man himself.
The result is a large-scale popular celebration — funny, moving, and deeply rooted in the Greek musical soul.
