The Waves Crashing: VIMA Art Fair Film Programme

The Waves Crashing, the film programme of curatorial project VIMA Art Fair 2026, is presented in collaboration with Rialto Theatre in Limassol, Cyprus, on Saturday 16 May 2026 at 15:00. The programme runs for 120 minutes and admission is free. All works are screened with English subtitles.

The moving image works in this programme function as rhythmic interventions, moving away from traditional narrative toward a cinema of resonance and return. If the wave is a refusal of fixed address, these films embody that fluidity — drifting through memory, landscape, and layers of history. The screen acts as a shoreline: a place to sit with the delayed impact of what is seen and heard, allowing the works to wash over the body and settle into the unconscious, creating a suspended space where watching becomes an act of political attunement.

The programme features works by Adham Faramawy, Valentin Noujaïm, Thomias Radin, and further artists to be announced. Curated by Kostas Stasinopoulos. Produced by Lex Grigoriou, Anya Masalova, and Anastasia Shamshurova.
