Moutti tis Choras: Hike in the Black Forests

The Hellenic Mountaineering Club of Nicosia organises a hike along the Moutti tis Choras trail, starting from Selladi tou Karamanli on the Saranti–Spilia road in Nicosia, Cyprus. An old trail passing through the "Black Forests" — dense Calabrian pine and kermes oak woodland, among the most pristine on the island — with exceptional views of Morphou Bay.
The route is 4km (8km return), moderate difficulty, with dense vegetation and no steep elevation changes. Midway along the trail there is access to a giant kermes oak tree. Duration: approximately 3 hours. The outing was scheduled to allow for voting (parliamentary election day).

Q: What equipment do I need?
A: Hiking boots covering the ankle, at least 1 litre of water, a small daypack, sun hat, and walking trousers. An extra top and lightweight waterproof are also recommended.
Q: Are pets allowed?
A: No, pets are not permitted on EOS outings.
Q: Can I join without being a member?
A: Yes, the participation fee for non-members is €2. Students are exempt. Annual membership costs €15.
