About This Event
A new exhibition at the Hambis Municipal Printmaking Museum in Nicosia titled "Mediterranean" presents works set against the backdrop of historical events that took place in the countries of this region.
Featured are selected works from the Andreas Nicholas collection, executed using various techniques and methods, depicting Mediterranean cities and historical events.
Collector A. Nicholas writes: "The Mediterranean Sea is one of the most important geographic and cultural basins in the world, serving not only as a natural formation but also as a bridge between continents. Since ancient times it has been a central axis of trade and communication, making a decisive contribution to the spread of ideas and knowledge. At the same time it has always been a meeting place of civilizations and historical events - the cradle of culture. Within it major religions such as Christianity and Islam developed and interacted."
In his selection of works, Nicholas pays particular attention to engravings related to Cyprus.
The "Mediterranean" exhibition grew out of the long friendship between Hambis and Nicholas and represents something new. It takes visitors on a journey through countries of Europe, Asia, and Africa.
