An extraordinary musical theatre production celebrating the life and legacy of legendary Cretan singer Nikos Xylouris, commemorating 90 years since his birth in Limassol and Larnaca, Cyprus. This powerful performance follows the journey of "The Archangel of Crete" from his childhood in Anogeia to his triumphant presence on Athenian stages.
The production combines live music, unpublished photographs, rare audio recordings, and compelling narrative. Written by Zacharaina Petraki and directed by Nikorestis Haniotakis, the performance features iconic Xylouris songs in new orchestrations by Andreas Katsigiannis. Ourania Xylouris, Nikos' life companion, contributed significantly as dramaturgy consultant.
The cast features Aimilanos Stamatakis in the role of Nikos Xylouris and Melina Kana as narrator. The production presents not only the greatness of his voice but reveals the moral and spiritual weight of a personality who marked modern Greek culture. This immersive experience blends testimony, art, and emotion, portraying Xylouris as both a symbolic voice and the inner universe of a man who sang with the soul of a nation.
