Event ended 3 months ago
Venue: Christodoulou Chatzipavlou, Limassol
About This Event
From 30 May to 1 June, Limassol’s seafront will host one of Cyprus’s most vibrant and beloved festivals – Kataklysmós. This traditional festival of water and the sea will once again bring together residents and visitors alike in an atmosphere of music, dance, maritime entertainment and cultural events.
This year’s programme features music, dance and interactive performances, shadow theatre, entertainment for children and adults, cruises on the open sea off the coast of Limassol, and spectacular concerts.
Kataklysmós is a unique Cypriot festival linked to the Orthodox feast of Pentecost and the island’s ancient maritime traditions. For many years, it has remained a symbol of summer, the sea and cultural heritage.
Visitors can look forward to:
30 May (08:00 – 22:00): A 12-hour Rowathon Challenge marathon, a performance by the philharmonic orchestra, an interactive shadow theatre show and an open-air cinema.
31 May (18:00 – 22:00): Creative workshops for children, shadow theatre, a folk ensemble and a folk instrument orchestra.
1 June (18:00 – 22:00): Workshops, shadow theatre, dance and music groups, and a concert by Kostas Makedonas.
