On July 5 at 13:00, we invite children and parents to an interactive lecture with Marina Yalchina — biologist, educator, science communicator, and creator of the “Experimentarium” project in Cyprus.
During this family-friendly event, participants will discover the fascinating world of insects living all around us. Together we will learn who fills Cyprus evenings with their distinctive songs, how praying mantises hunt, what makes rhinoceros beetles so remarkable, and why insects are essential to the island’s ecosystem.
Topics we will explore:
- why cicadas sing and why they are so loud
- how praying mantises hunt
- fascinating facts about rhinoceros beetles and other insects of Cyprus
- the role insects play in local ecosystems
- common myths and misconceptions about insects
- how to observe and appreciate nature in everyday life
A small museum-style exhibition will be available throughout the event, allowing participants to examine specimens up close, ask questions, and engage in discussion during the lecture.
This event encourages curiosity, observation, and a deeper understanding of the natural world, helping both children and adults see the remarkable wildlife that exists right outside their door.
Seats are limited. Registration is required.
