    About This Event

To Vouni (The Mountain) is a major theatre production in Cyprus, bringing the award-winning novel by Louiza Papaloidou to the stage in Limassol and Nicosia throughout September 2026. Adapted and directed by Maria Kyriakou, this poetic and emotionally powerful production centres on three characters — Xenis, the Girl and the Swede — against the backdrop of a remote Cypriot mountain village. The story spans from the early 20th century to the early 1970s, illuminating life in rural Cyprus and the Swedish Archaeological Mission's excavations at Soloi during the British colonial period.

The production won the 2021 State Novel Prize in Cyprus and jointly received the equivalent prize in Greece, making this theatrical adaptation one of the most anticipated cultural events of the season. A twelve-strong cast of accomplished actors brings the novel's language and atmosphere to life through contemporary dramaturgy, original music, set design, and video art.

🎟️ Ticket prices start from €20 (€16 reduced — for pensioners, unemployed, actors, and students upon presentation of proof at the entrance). Free entry for people with disabilities.
