GEORGE ORWELL. Rock Opera "1984"

A story of love and freedom brought into the modern world - a world of television shows, screens, and total digital surveillance. Here, Big Brother no longer watches people only through camera lenses. He goes on air, addresses millions of viewers, and quietly changes reality itself.

At the heart of the production is the story of two people trying to preserve their love in a world where feelings become a crime, words lose their meaning, and truth is rewritten every day.

This is not an adaptation of Orwell's classic novel. It is a contemporary rock opera about fear, freedom, memory, and love - about what remains within a person even when the system tries to rewrite their past, present, and future.

Music is an important part of the drama: it begins where words end. All the songs were created especially for the production. The arrangements were written by Alexander Krasovitsky, frontman of the bands Animal ДжаZ and Zero People.

Director Konstantin Kamensky creates a multi-layered stage story, combining dramatic theatre, music, video, and modern multimedia solutions. Gradually, the talk show turns into an interrogation, then into a confession and a reconstruction of the past.
"This story is not about totalitarianism. It is about the fact that even in the darkest world, there is a light that cannot be extinguished. It is the light of love.

We deliberately move away from Orwell's gravity to tell a story that offers hope. The music in our production is not merely an illustration, but the very fabric of the narrative. When words end, singing begins.
