The Corridor. A Contemporary Dance Performance

On 4 October 2026, as part of the International Festival of Nicosia, the contemporary dance performance «Corridor» (The Corridor) - the new work by renowned Cypriot choreographer Fotis Nikolaou - will be presented.

This is a poetic and multi-layered performance exploring mourning, memory, loss, resistance and the search for identity. At its heart lies the universal experience of farewell. It is not only about losing a loved one. Gradually, we bid farewell to youth, a sense of security, desires, freedom and, perhaps most importantly, the feeling of belonging somewhere.

The “corridor” itself becomes a metaphor for human life - a space of transition, trial and transformation. It is the place where the familiar collides with the unknown, tenderness with threat, and the past with the present.

The stage space is transformed into an inner labyrinth, where fears, vulnerability, memories and hopes intertwine. Through bodily movement, the artists experience traces of the past, confront their limits and repeatedly undergo a process of inner rebirth.

However, “Corridor” goes far beyond the boundaries of a personal story. The performance addresses themes such as ageing, loneliness, marginalisation and discrimination, while the stage itself becomes a space of resistance to violence, fascism and systemic injustice.

At the same time, the performance does not offer ready-made answers. Instead, it invites the audience to pause, listen to their own memories and feelings, and travel with the protagonists through the space of loss and change.

In the finale, “Corridor” becomes a deeply personal journey - a path that every person, sooner or later, travels alone.

Price: 20 € - standard ticket, 15 € - reduced-price ticket.

Reduced-price tickets are available to pensioners aged 65+, students, unemployed people and persons with disabilities. Admission is free for persons with disabilities upon presentation of the relevant certificate, while their companion is entitled to a reduced-price ticket.

The performance was first presented in Cyprus with the support of the Department of Contemporary Art of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Cyprus, as part of the Terpsichore 2026 programme, and was subsequently selected to participate in the Athens Epidaurus Festival 2026.
