About This Event
Nestled in the mountainous region of Larnaka, the picturesque village of Agioi Vavatsinias invites you to a unique three-day celebration of culture and tradition at the “Faratsaina” Festival. The event takes its name from the Mount Faratsaina, at the foot of which the village is built.
A rich program of tradition, music, hands-on workshops, local gastronomy and art awaits visitors, offering an authentic taste of the village and true Cypriot hospitality.
Festivalgoers will have the opportunity to join hands-on workshops in ceramics, painting and percussion instruments, as well as live culinary sessions such as the preparation of Agioi Vavatsinias ttavas (a slow-cooked stew), zucchini flowers dipped in shilari (batter), palouzes (creamy dessert of grape juice and flour) and soutzoukkos (strings of almonds or walnuts dipped in palouzes).
Nature lovers can kick off their day with a scenic morning bike through the pine trees or explore the “Fatatsaina Trail” on a guided hike.
The festival program also features an art exhibition by local artists, a documentary screening, a literary evening with works of authors and poets from Agioi Vavatsinias and traditional dance workshops. The festivities culminate in a tribute concert dedicated to Manos Loizos, a famous composer, whose roots trace back to the village. Check out the full schedule here.
Throughout the three-day event, visitors can wander through market stalls offering traditional Cypriot delicacies and handmade crafts.
