+357 - A Phone Booth Where Stories Are Told

From 12 September to 1 November 2026, an unusual art installation will appear in the square by Nicosia Municipal Theatre - an ordinary-looking phone booth that will become a space for memories, confessions and human stories.

The +357 project was created by young director Marios Kakoullis and offers a truly unique form of communication: one person, one phone booth and one voice at the other end of the line.

The visitor enters alone, closes the door behind them, picks up the receiver and dials a number of their choice. In response, a story is heard - each time new, real and surprisingly personal.

These are stories of people from across Cyprus. Some speak of an important moment in their lives, some ask for forgiveness, and some address their inner child. These accounts hold memories of pain and joy, fears and victories, moments when a person felt like a hero, was lost or, on the contrary, found the strength to move forward.

And although the voices belong to strangers, they may feel surprisingly familiar.

+357 is not simply a storytelling project. It is an attempt to remember what human communication was like before the age of smartphones, video calls and instant messages, when a phone call could be a real little mystery and the voice of a stranger could be an entire world.

For a few minutes, you will be alone with another person's story.
No audience. No stage. Just you, the telephone receiver and the voice at the other end of the line.
