Public Presentation and Consultation on the Revitalisation of Public Squares in Limassol

The Municipality of Limassol is organising a public presentation and consultation on the preliminary design of the project "Revitalisation of Public Squares as Part of Upgrading the Urban Environment in Limassol - Sections A, B and C", on Tuesday 15 September 2026, at 6:00 p.m., at the Municipal Cultural Centre "Panos Solomonides".

The presentation will be delivered by the project's consultants, Ioakeim-Loizas Ltd, who have been commissioned to prepare the study for Sections A, B and C of the project.

The study concerns the upgrading of seventeen (17) public squares in Limassol neighbourhoods, as follows:

• Apostolos Andreas: Junction of Empedokleous, Antiochou and Aristippou streets
• Agios Nikolaos: Junction of Kastalias, Aineiou and Beethoven streets
• Agia Fylaxi: Junction of Skarlat, Jenny Karezi and Aimiliou Frangou streets
• Agia Fylaxi: Charlie Chaplin Street
• Timios Prodromos: Junction of Agiou Fanouriou, Agiou Antoniou, Achilleos and Pente Pigadion streets
• Agios Spyridonas: Junction of Henrik Ibsen and Trapezountos streets
• Tsiflikoudia: Junction of Kassandrou and Optikou Nikolaidi streets
• Panagia Evangelistria: On Avlichou Street
• Agios Georgios: Junction of Metanaston and Epanapatrismou streets (3 squares)
• Chalkoutsa: Junction of Marathonos and Dimitriou Mitropoulou streets
• Kapsalos: Junction of Magellanou, Melpomenis and Metamorfoseos streets
• Agia Fylaxi: Junction of Belgium and Serbia streets
• Omonia: Junction of Ydras, Stravonos and Tsakalof streets
• Neapoli: Junction of Giorgos Seferis and Kyrinis streets
• Panthea: Junction of Katina Paxinou and Kalograion streets, and a public space south of the plot.

During the presentation, the current condition of the spaces, the design philosophy and the proposed interventions for each square will be analysed. The proposals focus on preserving and enhancing existing greenery, creating safe and accessible spaces for all ages, upgrading children's areas, increasing shade, using durable low-maintenance materials and installing lighting.

A key objective of the project is for the squares to serve as everyday living spaces for neighbourhoods, providing areas for play, rest, meeting, gentle exercise and social interaction. The design also provides for the creation of the necessary transition and protection zones, so that different uses can coexist safely and functionally, while respecting the particular characteristics of each area.

The public consultation is an essential stage of the process, as it allows residents, users of the spaces, organised groups and every interested citizen to be informed, submit their views and contribute to shaping the final choices.

The Municipality of Limassol invites residents to take part in the meeting so that the design of public squares is shaped by the real needs of neighbourhoods and the improvement of quality of life in the city.
