    About This Event

    The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia is organizing events on Sunday 13 September 2026 centred on the Aphrodite of Lefkolla, an archaeological find of particular importance to the history of ancient Lefkolla and the wider area of present-day Protaras.

    ONE-DAY CONFERENCE

    «Searching for the goddess: New thoughts on the head of the Aphrodite of Lefkolla»
    Speaker: Dr Stephan Schmid, Professor of Archaeology at Humboldt University of Berlin.

    «When the sea of Lefkolla crowned kings: The naval battle of 306 BC in ancient writers»
    Speaker: Dr Angelos Smagas, Educator - Archaeologist.

    Event space on the Protaras seafront promenade, southeast of Fig Tree Bay beach (near the “Nausicaa” hotel)

    OFFICIAL WELCOME CEREMONY

    During the ceremony, a replica of the head of a Classical-period statue of Aphrodite will be presented. The original is housed in the Neues Museum in Berlin.

    The event is held under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Culture and with the contribution of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Justice and Public Order.
