Marathounta is preparing a Traditional Products Festival

On 18 October 2026 (Sunday), the picturesque village of Maratunda will host a colourful Traditional Produce Festival. It’s the perfect excuse to organise a lovely Sunday outing for the whole family.

What’s in store for visitors:
A village market: dozens of cosy stalls selling home-grown olives, halloumi cheese, the purest honey, syrups and southern delicacies.
Wine traditions: you’ll be able to watch (and even take part!) as grapes are trodden by foot in huge vats, just as they used to be in the old days.
Distillation show: master distillers will demonstrate the distillation process for the famous Cypriot spirit, zivania, right before your eyes.
Palouze festival: you’ll get to taste the most delicate hot grape porridge, palouze, straight from the fire, cooked in huge copper cauldrons.
Songs and dances: local folk groups will create a festive atmosphere with traditional Cypriot dances and live music.
