Short Films About Lebanon

On October 11, the Rialto Theater in Limassol will host Beirut Shorts x ISFFC—a special program of short films dedicated to contemporary Lebanon.

Beirut and Limassol are only 245 kilometers apart, yet these two cities are connected by much more than just their geographical proximity. There is a deep cultural connection between them, and the festivals of the two cities have been fostering creative collaboration for many years.

The Beirut Shorts x ISFFC program offers a glimpse into the complex social and political reality of contemporary Lebanon through the language of cinema. The themes raised by the filmmakers resonate strongly in Cyprus as well, turning the screening into a unique dialogue between the two countries and their closely related Mediterranean cultures.

The program features three short films and a live film performance. Through the characters’ personal stories and experiences, viewers gradually gain a broader picture of city life, its society, and the surrounding reality.

The program is curated by Nicolas Khabbaz.

A discussion will follow the screening, during which viewers can share their impressions and talk in more detail about the works presented and the themes they address.
