Starlight 1: Grand Orchestral Concert

The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra collaborates for the first time with internationally acclaimed pianist, composer and leading figure of contemporary culture George-Emmanuel Lazaridis, under the direction of internationally renowned conductor Zoe Zeniodi. BBC Music Magazine has described Lazaridis as "so distinctive that he cannot be compared to anyone else", while his performances captivate audiences through their exceptional depth, imagination and virtuosity.
The evening begins with Nestor Taylor's work The Archangel's Road, an evocative elegy for strings, whose luminous tonal colours and contemplative character create an atmosphere of deep reflection. Through its title, the composer pays tribute to Mikis Theodorakis' autobiographical work The Roads of the Archangel.
At the heart of the programme is Saint-Saëns' dazzling Piano Concerto No. 2, a masterpiece that combines poetic lyricism, brilliance and impressive virtuosity.
The concert concludes with the irresistible passion, vivid colours and theatricality of Suites Nos. 1 and 2 from Bizet's opera Carmen, highlighting the unforgettable melodies and fiery spirit of one of the most beloved operatic works of all time.
Reflection, poetry, virtuosity and compelling musical storytelling come together in a concert full of intensity, emotion and captivating contrasts.

Reduced ticket eligibility:

Unemployed persons, recipients of the Guaranteed Minimum Income (GMI) and persons with disabilities. A limited number of seats is available for persons with disabilities.
