Donation Days in Paphos

From October 8 to 10, 2026, Cyprus will be the center of a European campaign dedicated to the donation of organs, tissues, and cells.

This year, European Donation Day is taking place in Cyprus, with the main events scheduled to be held in Paphos. The campaign’s theme is “Sharing Lives.”

This isn’t just a professional conference—the organizers have also prepared a program for the general public, featuring informational events, activities for residents and visitors, and opportunities to learn more about donation and transplantation.

What’s on the agenda?
A 3-kilometer charity run.
A special 3-kilometer run dedicated to raising awareness about organ donation will take place on the Kato Paphos waterfront.

Official Opening—October 9.
On the evening of October 9, the official opening ceremony will take place in the square near the Medieval Castle of Paphos.

The program will feature stories from donors and transplant recipients, speeches by representatives of the medical community, and special video messages.

A highlight of the evening will be a drone show honoring more than 1,000 organ donors and more than 1,000 bone marrow donors.

The event will also mark important milestones for Cyprus: 40 years of organ transplantation and 30 years of bone marrow transplantation.

Green Cyprus:
On October 9 and 10, landmark buildings in Cyprus’s five largest cities will be illuminated in green—the official color of European Donation Day.

Paphos will also host informational events, educational initiatives, and special activities for residents and visitors.

October 10 — International Conference:
On Saturday, an international conference dedicated to donation and transplantation will take place at the Attikon Conference Hall in Paphos.

Experts will discuss current practices, ethical issues, the development of donation and transplantation programs, international cooperation, and the situation in Cyprus and Europe.

Who is organizing it?
European Donation Day 2026 is organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus and the Cyprus Transplant Council, with the support of the Karaiskakio Foundation and in collaboration with the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM) of the Council of Europe.
