About This Event
The festival will take place on Sunday, 25 October in the village of Monagri. The event is entirely dedicated to traditional grape-based products and Cyprus’s finest wine.
From 10.00, guests will be able to watch the process of making the traditional grape pudding, palouze. The festival also celebrates shushuko – the Cypriot equivalent of churchkhela, where nuts strung on a thread are repeatedly dipped in thick grape juice – and the famous sweet Commandaria wine, which is produced in this region.
Workshops and a variety of activities for the whole family will be organised for visitors. At 11:00, an interactive shadow theatre performance by the Pafios Theatre will begin.
At 12:00, dancers from the ‘Diplogefiro’ ensemble from Trimiklini will perform, whilst the Limassol Folklore Society will perform Cypriot songs.
At 14:30, the musical programme will continue with Sophocles Panayiotou (violin/vocals), Panikos Nikolaidis (laouto/vocals) and Makis Chrysostomou.
At 15:15, following the official welcome speeches, the Limassol Folklore Society will return to the stage with an extensive programme of Cypriot folk dances.
