The Festival of Paluze and Zivania

The Palouze and Zivania Festival returns to the mountain village of Polistipos, in the Pitsilia region, on Sunday 11 October. The event will take place in Agios Nikolaos Square. Polistipos made history as the first community in Cyprus to organise such a festival back in 1997.

Guests will be able to watch the traditional Cypriot grape dessert (palouze) being made live and sample it whilst it’s still warm, right there on the spot.
The traditional distillation process for the famous Cypriot spirit will be re-enacted in the square.
Numerous local wineries will take part in the festival. Visitors will be able to sample various wines to their heart’s content, as well as try signature cocktails made with Cypriot spirits, homemade syrups and mountain herbs from Pitsilia.
Live traditional music, songs performed by folk instrumentalists and a performance by the Terpsichore dance troupe.
An exhibition of photographs and antique artefacts chronicling the history of viticulture, the grape harvest and traditional winemaking methods.
