About This Event
Following its first presentation at the ANTI-SKINO Festival, The Belly (I Koilia), a theatrical monologue by Marina Vronti, comes to Ktirion 53 in Nicosia. Directed by Stavros Potamaris and performed by Marilia Charidimou, the production follows a woman as she grows up, falls in love, becomes a mother and rediscovers herself through the changes in her body.
With humour, anger and tenderness, Marina stands before the audience as she is. Laughter opens a space for truths that are difficult to express, inviting us to hear, behind her words, everything she was taught to hide. We follow her from a child learning to see herself through other people's eyes, to a young woman in love, and later to a mother watching her body change. Each age leaves its mark, and every change carries both a loss and a new version of the self. Motherhood does not erase the woman who came before, just as a body never stops telling its story.
