The Father: Award-Winning Play by Florian Zeller at Theatro Dentro

Theatro Dentro in Nicosia, Cyprus, presents The Father by French playwright Florian Zeller — the Molière Award-winning play that has moved audiences around the world. Starring Stavros Louras and directed by Giannis Leontaris, this is a profound theatrical journey into the disintegrating mind of a man living with dementia. Performances run from 12 to 27 October 2026, starting at 20:30.

A Play That Changed How We Speak About Dementia

The Father is not simply a story about dementia — it is a gripping voyage into a mind gradually losing its bearings. Faces blur, times and places overlap, certainty collapses. The audience does not merely observe; they experience the confusion, the absurdity, the doubt. Far from melodrama, the production uses humour as an unexpected breath of air in the darkness, creating a theatrical experience that leaves no one unaffected.

From Stage to the Oscars

Originally titled Le Père, the play won the Molière Award for Best Play in 2014 and was later adapted into a film that earned six nominations at the 93rd Academy Awards (2021), winning Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor for Anthony Hopkins' extraordinary performance.
