Parametric Deep: Dance on Water

About This Event
A dancer’s image appears in falling water, dissolves into light and gathers into a recognisable body again. Parametric Deep brings contemporary dance into the city through an audiovisual installation where the projection surface is constantly moving.
Created as a special ArtCargo Festival co-production with Cypriot choreographer Panos Malactos and Curiosity Media Lab, the work combines choreography, digital imagery and original sound. Chris Mills performs the movement, while water droplets scatter and refract the projected light. The result changes subtly as the water reshapes the image: a gesture can become a current, a silhouette or a shifting pattern.
The project brings together artists working across dance, media, music and filmmaking. Dmitry Melkin is responsible for the concept and artistic direction, Panos Malactos for choreography and composition, Curiosity Media Lab for graphics and media, and Pircus for original music and sound design. General production is by MissAir.
This is an installation you can discover during an evening walk, with a ten-minute audiovisual sequence repeating throughout a three-hour presentation. It offers an accessible introduction to contemporary dance and media art, with no spoken language needed to follow the experience.
Presentations take place on 16, 17, 18, 22 and 23 October, 19:00–22:00. Admission is free.
The meeting point is the Municipal Theatre Garden. The organiser’s map pin leads to Nicosia Municipal Garden Fountain: https://maps.app.goo.gl/GaFB3k2YUtbkmHRq7
