CurioCity Walk: Nicosia Pattern Hunt

This creative city walk will explore Nicosia through its architecture, surfaces, colours and everyday details. Participants will move between the city’s old and new areas, looking for visual references that could inform photography, drawing, fashion, design or other creative work.

The walk will focus on patterns in buildings and pavements, textures and materials, unexpected colour combinations, architectural contrasts, signs, objects and shadows. Participants will choose their own way of recording what they notice: taking photographs, sketching, drawing, writing or collecting colours and shapes. There will be no prescribed final artwork or single correct result.

The event will welcome fashion designers and students, architects, urbanists, photographers, artists, designers and people interested in creative observation. After the walk, the group will gather beneath Eleftheria Square for an informal discussion led by OPU Collective, sharing photographs, sketches, observations and ideas.

Programme — Saturday, 31 October 2026
10:45–11:00 — Gathering at Eleftheria Square.
11:00–11:10 — Welcome and introduction.
11:10–13:00 — Creative walk through old and new Nicosia.
13:00–13:30 — Informal creative discussion beneath Eleftheria Square.
From 13:30 — Optional informal continuation at Nero.

Participants should bring a phone or camera and any materials they would like to use: a sketchbook, notebook, pencils, pens, markers, watercolours or an iPad.

The group will be limited to 25 participants. Registration will close on 29 October, with places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. After submitting the form, applicants will be contacted to confirm their place.

Meeting point: Eleftheria Square, Nicosia. The organisers have not specified a particular landmark within the square.
