The Weaver Who Wove Songs - Cypriot Musical Fairy Tale

"The Weaver Who Wove Songs" is a new Cypriot musical fairy tale by Korina Vasileiou, inspired by the images, traditions and folk wisdom of Cypriot fairy tales and legends.

The performance tells the story of a mysterious Weaver who weaves not clothes and carpets, but songs. Every colored thread that passes through her loom gives birth to a different song, which travels on the wind across Cyprus.

One day, however, her loom falls silent. The songs have been lost. The Weaver sets out on a long journey to find her music again. Along the way she meets the Carob Tree, the Spring and the Wind, each holding a small piece of the music that has been lost. A little nightingale travels with her, remembering only three notes from the last song. With the help of the nightingale and the sounds of Cypriot nature, the Weaver may find her own song again.

The story is presented through narration, live music and song.
