3rd Limassol Kantada Festival Dedicated to the Memory of "Kostas Gregoriou"

For the third consecutive year, the Cultural Movement "Epili" organizes the Limassol Kantada Festival "Kosta Gregoriou", with the main goal of bringing kantada closer to the public and highlighting it as a living and essential part of the city's musical tradition.

The organizers' basic aim, from the very first Festival, was to free kantada from the image of an exclusively carnival attraction and present it with the artistic value and brilliance it deserves. Their belief was and remains that kantada is an important part of Limassol's musical and social history and deserves to have its own special place in the city's cultural calendar, beyond the Carnival period.

Despite the Festival being limited to a single day due to reduced funding, the organizers, led by the conductor of Epili Michalis Gregoriou who has overall artistic direction, have prepared a rich program that not only ensures the continuation of the institution but further develops it.

Utilizing Cypriot artists and groups from the city, the Festival will host four kantada groups: the male vocal ensemble Ilandron, the Kantadores of Limassol, the Cypriot Kantadores, and the Choir "Modern Times". As part of the Festival, the musical performance "A Walk in Old Athens" will also be presented.

A walk through the beautiful courtyard of Epili on Sunday, October 25, from 18:00 to 21:00, will remind us of old Limassol, where kantada had its place of honor.
