About This Event
The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation brings five ceramic practitioners into its archaeological museum for a morning that connects looking with making. From Ancient Artifacts to Contemporary Art begins among the objects of the George and Nefeli Giabra Pierides Collection, then moves into the education room and the Foundation’s outdoor amphitheatre.
During a short museum tour, each practitioner introduces the object they will help participants create. Visitors can choose the activity that interests them before moving to three workstations in the education room. Modelling, wheel throwing and sculpture offer different ways to explore clay and its possibilities.
Zoi Mavrogenous and Evelina Hatzigeorgiou lead the pottery activities, Maria Aloneftou works at the wheel, and Styliana Dimitriou introduces sculpture. Outdoors, Andreas Fasoulides demonstrates the making of an ancient vase mould and the construction of a simple kiln using traditional methods. This demonstration is open to all visitors.
The programme takes place on Sunday 15 November 2026 at 11:00 and lasts two and a half hours. The workshop welcomes children aged six and over and adults. Participation is free, but places are limited and advance telephone reservation is required on +357 22 128175 or +357 22 128163.
Organised with the Cyprus Association of Potters and Ceramists, the event concludes the Foundation’s Moments at the Museum ’26 series. It takes place at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation in Nicosia’s old town, on Phaneromenis Street.
