“Princess of Agii Saranta” Returns to Cyprus for Ten Performances

The “Princess of Agii Saranta” returns to Cyprus for a major tour. The new comedy by Charis Romas will be performed from 6 to 15 November in Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca and Paralimni, for ten performances in total.

A story full of laughter, plot twists, romance and unexpected tenderness, the play begins with a lie that grows dangerously. Pameinos, a publisher with an inflated ego and few ethical scruples, tries to convince an English investor, a friend of the blue-blooded, that his wife is a former princess of Albania.

His decision triggers a storm of misunderstandings, revelations and absurd comic situations. Lies, love affairs, betrayals, unfaithful husbands and mischievous secretaries get tangled in a fast-paced farce which, just when everything seems to serve laughter alone, makes room for emotion and human tenderness.

The “Princess of Agii Saranta” is not limited to a comedy of misunderstandings. Through its humour, it touches on the wear and tear of marriage, racial and age-based discrimination, women's empowerment, and every person's need to feel important and to claim their dignity.

The text and direction are by Charis Romas, who also stars alongside Ava Galanopoulou, Sofia Pavlidou, Michalis Iatropoulos, Giorgos Amoutzas, Katerina Nikolopoulou and Alexandros Theodoropoulos. The show's song, titled “Anypotakti” (Untamed), is performed by Ioulia Karapataki.
