    About This Event

Presentation of an interdisciplinary project documenting and preserving the archive of ceramic artist Valentinos Charalambous, featuring short presentations by Marina Schiza, Andriana Nikolaidou and Nikolas Bakirtzis. Free entrance, 70 minutes duration.

Imprint in Clay is a free interdisciplinary presentation event at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol, Cyprus, taking place on Friday 13 November 2026 at 7:00 PM. The evening runs for 70 minutes and will be followed by a reception.

    🎟️ Free entry.

The event showcases an ongoing interdisciplinary project dedicated to documenting, studying, visualising and preserving the multidimensional, living archive of prominent ceramic artist Valentinos Charalambous. Three short presentations will take the audience through distinct facets of the project: Marina Schiza will discuss the significance of Valentinos' work, Andriana Nikolaidou will address the donation of his archive to The Cyprus Institute, and Nikolas Bakirtzis will present the ongoing effort to build an innovative digital archive - one that will give access to the studio environment, documents, photographs, and the memories and knowledge of the artist.

🏺 Born in 1929 in Famagusta into a family of traditional potters, Valentinos Charalambous is one of Cyprus's most distinguished ceramists of international acclaim. He studied in London, spent decades heading the Ceramics Department at the University of Baghdad's Academy of Fine Arts, and has been based in Limassol since his return to Cyprus. His body of work spans murals, three-dimensional sculptures, and large wheel-thrown vessels.

The event is co-organised by The Cyprus Institute / APAC Labs and Pylon Art & Culture.
