A lecture evening celebrating 100 years of the Bauhaus Dessau building, featuring architect Karin Georgiades and Prof. Marios C. Phocas exploring the Bauhaus workshop's influence on digital design today. Free admission, English language, at CYENS in Nicosia on 19 November 2026.
A century ago, the Bauhaus building in Dessau, designed by Walter Gropius, was inaugurated.
To mark this anniversary, the Cyprus German Cultural Association is organising a lecture evening as part of the German Language Weeks. The evening will open with a brief overview of the Bauhaus and its wide influence, presented by architect Karin Georgiades.
A lecture by Prof. Marios C. Phocas titled "From the Bauhaus Workshop to the Digital Workshop Today" will follow. The lecture explores how the Bauhaus brought together different forms of knowledge, materials, techniques and technologies in the shared practice of the building, and how today digital design, computer-assisted processes and automated construction are creating new forms of collaboration.
