Hip Hop Mediterraneo

The Cultural Foundation 1948 presents for the first time in Cyprus the music documentary 'The Hip Hop of the Mediterranean' (Hip Hop Mediterraneo), directed by Alfonso de Munno. The first official screening will take place on Wednesday, 11 November 2026, at 19:30, at Polyhopos Synergheio in Limassol.
About the Documentary

One of the most significant, most restless sound and strongly politicized hip hop collectives in Greece, Social Waste, is getting its own cinematic portrait.

Hip Hop Mediterraneo chronicles the 25-year journey of the collective, following its members as they carve out their own independent path, far from the conventions of the music industry. Scattered across different parts of Greece, Social Waste reunite to create their new album and return to the stage.
Through personal moments, creative clashes and rich archival material, the film becomes a musical road movie that highlights the connection between hip hop and the traditional music of the Mediterranean, the challenges and the power of collective creation, as well as the sharp socio-political discourse on coexistence, freedom and solidarity among the peoples of the Mediterranean.
