    About This Event

A collaborative exhibition by Marinos Houtris and Ekso opens in Paphos from 23 October to 6 November at Decade, exploring hidden urban infrastructure through sound recordings and landscape documentation. Free admission.

A new collaborative exhibition opens in Paphos this week, adding to the city's cultural agenda. Megadence, as part of the Vis-à-Vis Nicosia programme by Visual Voices, presents the exhibition 'What Does Not Stop Disappearing' on 23 October, featuring works by Marinos Houtris and Ekso.
At Decade (4 Agiou Kendea), the exhibition will remain open until 6 November and includes a round-table discussion with the artists, a journalist and the co-founder of Megadence.
"Through sound recordings and documentation of the landscape," the organisers comment, "the exhibition focuses on what becomes perceptible only through disruption, revelation and transition. Construction sites in Paphos become points of access to infrastructure that is usually buried, and to flows that cannot be seen or heard in a normal way.
"By redistributing what is embedded within the seemingly ordinary and familiar, yet remains beyond everyday view, the exhibition 'steals' another level of the city in moments of temporary visibility. It reflects on what is revealed through these transitional spaces and on what remains after their disappearance."
Marinos Houtris, an artist working in photography, sound and installation, takes part in this project. In his practice, he observes things that appear briefly or remain present without being noticed, attending to the temporary and less visible life of urban space. In recent years, this has led him beneath the streets of Paphos, following water, pipes, vibrations and the traces left by excavation and repair.
The second participating artist, Angela Ioannidou, presents Ekso, a collaborative project for critical discussions through artistic and creative practices. Its name, meaning "outside" in Greek, reflects a commitment to Paphos as a geographical and cultural "outside", creating space and visibility for perspectives and voices that exist beyond dominant narratives.
A round-table discussion on 31 October will bring together artists Marinos Houtris, Angela Ioannidou (Ekso), journalist Niki Laou, and Marina Demosthenous, co-founder of Megadence and moderator of the discussion.
