About This Event
A musical performance celebrating poet Nikos Kavvadias, featuring Rita Antonopoulou and Dimitris Fanis, on 17 November 2026 at 20:00 at the Municipal Theatre of Strovolos. Admission €7.
The Municipality of Strovolos, as part of its autumn concert series, presents the music performance "Nikos Kavvadias - Danced on the Shark's Wing" on Tuesday, 17 November 2026 at 20:00 at the Municipal Theatre of Strovolos.
Nikos Kavvadias, the poet of the sea and of travel, created a unique poetic world full of ships, sailors, harbours, love, adventures, loneliness and death. With an authentic and deeply experiential voice, he wrote about everything he encountered and lived through on his travels. The idiomatic language of sailors meets Kefalonian idioms and genuine popular Greek, creating a poetry that travels from the deck of a ship to the deepest places of the human soul.
"Danced on the Shark's Wing". A phrase that resembles an invitation to a life without fear. To dare. To defy the impossible. To stand on the shark's wing and dance.
Through music, voice and word, Rita Antonopoulou and Dimitris Fanis set out to unlock the unique world of Nikos Kavvadias and illuminate the hidden secrets of his poetry.
A musical performance about the sea and the journey. For those who left and those who waited. For the loves born in harbours and the stories that never ended. For the adventure of life and, above all, for the human need to dare to dance on the shark's wing.
