About This Event
A theatrical reading featuring personal testimonies illuminates Frederick University's 60-year history and founder philosophy. Performed at Frederick University Nicosia on 9 November 2026 at 19:00, free admission.
A theatrical reading with unpublished personal testimonies, directed by Aimilios Charalambides, illuminates the journey of the educational institution and the philosophy of its founder, Michalis Freiderikos.
"Love your students, mother, love them." A phrase by Michalis Freiderikos, which captures his philosophy on education and his relationship with the people of the institution, becomes the title of a theatrical reading through which Frederick University returns to moments and people of its 60-year history.
The performance is organised on the occasion of "Founder's Day", the annual event dedicated to the memory of the person who founded the educational institution.
The reading will present personal testimonies of people who were connected with Frederick at different times and in different roles. These are stories recorded during the preparation of the anniversary documentary "Our History Is the Stories of Our People", marking 60 years since the founding of the institution, but ultimately not included in it. These narratives will be presented to the public for the first time through their theatrical performance.
The direction is by Aimilios Charalambides, a member of the university's academic staff and a theatre director. On stage will be actors Andreas Papamichalopoulos, Iliana Kakkoura and Nektarios Theodorou, as well as associate professor of the university Sotiris Theocharides.
The testimonies form a mosaic of human experiences, relationships and moments, with emotion and nostalgia coexisting with humour. Through them emerge not only episodes from the history of the institution, but also the values and relationships that shaped its identity.
The event venue will also feature artworks by Despo Freiderikou, created especially for the 60th anniversary and reflecting aspects of the history and path of Frederick.
