Socrates Café Lefkara: Conversations That Matter

When was the last time you had a conversation that made you see something differently?

Not a hurried exchange between appointments or a debate about who is right, but a genuine conversation in which questions matter more than answers.

Every Thursday evening, the historic village of Lefkara becomes the setting for just such an experience. Socrates Café brings together people who enjoy thinking, listening and exploring the questions that shape our lives.

Inspired by the international Socrates Café movement, the gathering takes its name from the ancient Greek philosopher whose curiosity and questioning changed the way people approached knowledge. Yet this is not a philosophy lecture, an academic seminar or a discussion reserved for experts.

Quite the opposite. The idea is that everyone has something valuable to contribute.

Each meeting begins with a question. It might concern happiness, love, friendship, ethics, personal freedom, the meaning of success or the choices that define us. From there, the conversation develops naturally as participants share experiences, consider different perspectives and discover new ways of looking at familiar things.

There are no prepared speeches, no teachers and no pressure to arrive at a final conclusion. You can express an opinion, ask a question or simply listen. Curiosity and respect are the only things you need to bring.

The meetings take place at House 1923, a welcoming venue in Pano Lefkara, where the atmosphere of the old village offers a fitting backdrop for an evening of unhurried reflection.

Socrates Café is open to local residents, visitors and anyone who enjoys meaningful conversation. No previous knowledge of philosophy is necessary.

The group meets every Thursday from 18:00 to 21:00.

Upcoming meetings are scheduled for 5, 12 and 19 November 2026.

Admission is free, and advance registration is not indicated as a requirement.
