About Gaetano Donizetti
Gaetano Donizetti was one of the leading composers of Italian bel canto opera in the first half of the 19th century, alongside Rossini and Bellini. His comic and tragic operas, including L'Elisir d'Amore, Lucia di Lammermoor and Don Pasquale, remain staples of the international repertoire. His opera L'Elisir d'Amore is the centrepiece of the Pafos Aphrodite Festival at Paphos Medieval Castle.
