About Nikos Xylouris
Nikos Xylouris, nicknamed "Psaronikos" and dubbed the "Archangel of Crete," was a Greek singer, Cretan lyra player and composer from Anogeia, Crete, and one of the most beloved figures in Greek music. Reviving Cretan folk tradition and setting the verses of major Greek poets, his voice became emblematic of the resistance to the 1967–1974 junta before his early death in 1980.
