2 Oct - 4 Oct 2026 · Cyprus State Fair, NicosiaCyprus Comic Con 2026: The Festival That Outgrew Comics
Cyprus Comic Con runs 2-4 October at Kratiki Ekthesi, Nicosia, with cosplay, gaming and wrestling. Tickets from €5.
In September 2014, a small group of pop-culture fans booked a university hall in Nicosia for the first Cyprus Comic Con. They expected a few hundred visitors. Around 4,000 walked through the doors.
That mismatch between expectation and appetite explains what followed. The convention moved first to Filoxenia Conference Centre and then to the Cyprus State Fair grounds, adding halls, stages and entire programme strands as reported attendance rose. Comics remain part of its identity, but they no longer define its limits.
The story
Cyprus Comic Con outgrows the hall
The first move came in 2016, when Cyprus Comic Con left the university for Filoxenia and drew 13,800 visitors across two days. A year later it moved again, this time to the State Fair, where multiple halls could separate gaming, artists, retail, panels, cosplay and screenings without breaking the event into disconnected pieces.
Reporting put the 2019 attendance close to 20,000. By 2025, according to the organisers, the figure had crossed 32,000. The shift in scale changed more than the floor plan: a convention that began as a gathering for Cypriot fans had become a regional pop-culture festival spanning more than 10,000 square metres.

The Friday that changed Comic Con
Cyprus Comic Con stopped behaving like a convention and became a three-day festival.
In 2025, Friday afternoon became a separate opening chapter rather than an early doorway into the weekend. Outdoor stages, live music, pro wrestling, food and drinks occupied the State Fair grounds before two full convention days followed. Thousands of people in costume gathered under the lights, but no knowledge of anime, comics or gaming was required to understand the scene.
That Friday now provides the event with a centre of gravity beyond the exhibition halls. A drone show over Nicosia leads into the opening ceremony, while wrestling, street food and outdoor performances give casual visitors a route into the weekend without asking them to study a guest list first.
What's inside
The halls beyond comics
Calling the event a comic convention now leaves too much unexplained. The Japanese Embassy and Indian High Commission have joined as partners, while the programme ranges from artists and STEM activities to tabletop play, wrestling, film and food.

Cosplay provides the most visible thread through the weekend. The CCC Masquerade and Mediterranean Cosplay Championship treat costume as performance, with entrances, transformations and short staged routines carrying as much weight as construction. A clearly identifiable full cosplay also earns free entry. A hat does not count. Nice try.
The halls bring grandparents and children to STEM tables, teenagers to autograph queues, and thirty-somethings into discussions about Warhammer paint. Local community groups, charities and NGOs receive floor space alongside commercial booths, which helps the event function more like a temporary town square than a trade show.
Accessibility: Free Sunflower bracelets support visitors with hidden disabilities, while a Quiet Room in Hall 4 offers a break from the noise.
Our partnership
A reader discount for Comic Con
Cyprus.BZ lists thousands of events each year, and this one carries an unusual local history. Volunteer energy took it from a university hall to a reported 32,000 visitors without erasing the community groups, fan culture and local makers that shaped the first edition.
The organisers have provided a discount code for Cyprus.BZ readers. Credit belongs to them for making the arrangement available; the practical benefit belongs to anyone already planning to spend the weekend moving between the halls, outdoor programme and cosplay stages.
