This theatre performance in Limassol, Cyprus presents Tennessee Williams’ iconic play The Glass Menagerie at the Rialto Theatre, brought to the stage by Theatro DENTRO and Open Arts. A timeless and emotionally rich work, the play explores unfulfilled dreams, family obligations, and the quiet longing for freedom.
The story centres on four fragile characters living in emotional confinement: Amanda, a mother clinging to her past; Tom, a poet trapped in routine work; and Laura, who escapes into her delicate collection of glass figurines after a childhood illness. The absence of the father shapes their lives, while the arrival of Jim briefly revives hopes of escape—hopes that prove harder to realise than imagined.
Directed by Thanasis Georgiou, this production highlights the tenderness and pain that have made The Glass Menagerie one of the most beloved works in modern theatre. The performance lasts 120 minutes and is suitable for audiences aged 12 and over.

Iakovos Kambanellis (1921–2011) was Greece's most celebrated playwright and one of the most important figures in the history of modern Greek theatre. A survivor of the Mauthausen concentration camp — an experience that deeply informed his work — Kambanellis wrote plays that explore Greek life, history, and the human condition with exceptional insight and poetic power. His plays, including Courtyard of Miracles, The Neighbourhood of Dreams, and Our Great Circus, are cornerstones of the modern Greek theatrical repertoire and have been performed worldwide. The presentation of his work at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol honours one of the greatest literary and theatrical voices of the Greek-speaking world.
