About This Event
"While the world is stuck in uncertainty, we are diving into the depths.
In search of universal answers, we ask uncomfortable questions," says director Dmitry Melkin.
Following "The Lost Mirror" and the ArtCargo festival, while the world once again stands frozen in confusion over the ruins of its foundations and hopes, we announce a deep dive in search of healing universals—and we invite you to join us.
March 26, 8:00 PM, on the Pattichio stage, will be the grand theatrical premiere of "MAN / AMPHIBIAN," a manifesto performance by a team creating the vanguard of the reasonable / kind / eternal.
"This letter is for you, my ocean."
Utopian performance / physical theatre / contemporary parable
“Amphibia” begins with a young journalist being thrown into the sea with a weight on her feet. She was meant to drown but is brought back to life. By whom? For what purpose?
Next we descend into a parable of Ichthyander from Belyaev’s novel, adapted to the realities of today’s global capitalism by director Dmitry Melkin ("Golden Mask" 2019 in the Experiment category) and playwright Mikhail Durnenkov ("Golden Mask" 2019, Oscar nominee 2026).
Starring:
Guttiere — a woman who survived and did not stop.
(Maria Kurdenevich)
Ichthyander — a man who never learned to be human.
(Gladston Mahib)
Salvator — a scientist who did not fear interfering with the laws of nature.
(Vladimir Mishukov)
Manuel — a visionary offering humanity a radical technological triumph at any cost.
(Vadik Korolev)
Four characters, four philosophies — love and power, care and control, creator and creation — converge at the point of a human storm.
Drawing on the familiar myth of a being able to live in two environments, the performance explores otherness, love and power, the relationships of creator and created, father and son, care and control in the age of cloud capitalism. A classic science-fiction plot is turned here into a contemporary parable — about personal revolutions, the choice of identity, and the attempt to gain freedom in a world undergoing a crisis of humanist values.
"Human / Amphibia" combines physical theatre, visual imagery, and video essays to create a multilayered stage space where the body becomes the main bearer of meaning and nature an active participant in the action.
This is not a staging of Belyaev’s novel, but a dialogue with it — from the present time.
