A unique spiritual and musical experience will be hosted at the Municipal Theatre of Nicosia on Tuesday 24 March 2026, at 20:00, featuring the presence of the Very Reverend Archimandrite Fr. Nikodemos Kabarnos, with the participation of the choir “Spyros Kapsaskis” conducted by Andreas Pantelidis, in a devotional concert of Byzantine music.
The evening takes place on the eve of 25 March, the Feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, a celebration of deep theological and spiritual significance for Orthodoxy, creating an appropriate setting for inner preparation, silence and prayerful listening. At the same time, in anticipation of the journey toward Holy Week and Easter, the concert will include selected, well-known and deeply beloved hymns of the Holy Days, hymns that have marked the collective memory and liturgical life of the Church. With respect, restraint and inwardness, the chanting serves as an invitation to devotion and meaningful listening, spiritually preparing the audience for the Passion and the Resurrection.
Both the eloquence of his speech and the beautiful-toned, expressive voice of Fr. Nikodemos make him one of the most emblematic figures of contemporary Byzantine psaltic art. As a protopsaltis and teacher of Byzantine music, Father Nikodemos has linked his name with an essential and experiential approach to ecclesiastical hymnography, attracting many faithful and friends of the tradition at every appearance.
The concert at the Municipal Theatre of Nicosia invites the public to an evening of devotion and meaningful listening, where tradition meets art and speech converses with Byzantine chanting, through an authentic and deeply human mode of expression.
