My Grandmother Kyriakou

This documentary theatre performance in Nicosia, Cyprus takes place on March 18 and 19, 2026 at Nicosia Municipal Theatre, bringing back “My Grandmother Kyriakou” for two evening performances at 20:30.

The production tells the story of Kyriakou Pelagia, a master of Cypriot traditional song, through the eyes of her granddaughter Eirini Pelagia, who also serves as musical director. Written by Andreas Nikolaides and directed by Kleitos Kleitou, the work blends memory, testimony and artistic interpretation rather than presenting a conventional biography.

With live music and a 90-minute duration, the performance explores the documentary theatre form, using authentic material and spoken testimonies to bridge art and lived experience.
