On Sunday, April 19, starting at 2:00 p.m., Lavender Venue will host the 1st “Antikristo” Festival, an event dedicated to one of the most authentic and beloved traditions of Cypriot cuisine.
“Antikristo” is not just a meal; it is a culinary art form. It is an ancient shepherds’ method of cooking meat, primarily lamb, in which pieces are arranged around a fire, the “antikristos,” and slowly roasted by the heat. The meat is cooked not over coals, but around a bonfire on wooden skewers. Without coming into direct contact with the flames, the meat retains all its juices and acquires a special smoky flavor that makes it truly unique.
