Alice in the Land of Football (Η Αλίκη στη Χώρα του Ποδοσφαίρου), a tender and imaginative children's theatre production, takes to the stage at Latsia Theatre in Nicosia, Cyprus, on Sunday 17 May 2026 at 10:45. Running for 50 minutes, the show is written, directed, and puppet-crafted by Antzela Rizaki. Produced by Co.Media and Teatro Angelico as part of the Gelios Festival, under the auspices of the Municipality of Latsia-Gerio. Please arrive 30 minutes before the show begins.
The story follows Alice, a child who loves football — until a mistake on the pitch and the comments of others make her doubt herself. She is suddenly transported into a strange world where rules are enforced without reason or compassion. A tired Ball reveals the weight of the pressure it carries, and unusual symbolic characters guide her on a journey of self-discovery. Through her experiences, Alice learns that making mistakes is a natural and inseparable part of both the game and life itself.
A story about the power of effort, friendship, bullying, pressure to succeed, acceptance, and above all the joy of keeping on playing. The production combines physical theatre, puppet animation, live rhythm, and strong symbolic elements, with 11 characters on stage. Cast: Maria Pavlou, Antzela Rizaki, Giorgos Chatziantonis, Michaella Christou.
