The Hellenic Mountaineering Club of Nicosia organises a 7-kilometre linear hike along the Karkotis River in Kakopetria, Cyprus, from Kannoures to the Church of Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis. A scenic spring outing through the Karkotis valley, followed by an optional picnic at Livadi tou Ppasia.
The trail follows the river through the beautiful valley, passing near the former chromium mine installations, with several river crossings expected to have low water flow at this time of year. A small section of the route follows a dirt road. The difficulty level is rated 2 (moderate), with minor elevation changes. After the hike, participants can enjoy a picnic at Livadi tou Ppasia — bring your own food, drinks, cutlery, and cups.
Participants should be willing to share car transport to the trailhead. A trained first-aid officer accompanies all outings.
